British rider took another top five at home

It was a good visit to Donington for MV Agusta Reparto Corse rider Leon Camier, as the Brit took fourth in Race 1 at his home round and followed that result up with another good top five performance on Sunday.

Having established a strong set-up for his MV Agusta F4 RC, Camier quickly found a good pace from eighth on the grid in Sunday’s contest and passed 2006 MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden in the final stages of the Race to add 11 more valuable points to his tally in the overall standings. The Englishman continues to impress on the Italian MV, and counts on two more good finishes ahead of the team’s next home Round, on the Riviera di Rimini in June.

“To be honest it was a really good race,” said the Englishman afterwards. “I struggled a bit at the start and when I managed to get the rhythm I found a good pace but not enough to go with the guys at the front. I did my best to push hard and in the last lap I managed to pass Hayden as well. I am really happy with the result and with the work we did here in Donington.”

“To be honest it is a bit of a dream come true in a way,” said Camier on his overall progress with the MV Agusta bike this season. “ We’ve made progress all the time. With attention to detail with the bike we’ve got to a good level now. There was nothing more in it today than what we had. In the second race the bike felt good. It was doing everything the best it can do. I think I know the areas in which we need to improve. It will take a bit of time but I’m pretty confident that once we get them we can take the next step. Until we get them it isn’t possible to race with the Kawasakis. So we’ll see.”

Round 8 is at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy from 17th-19th June, where Camier will be pushing once again to keep moving forward with the MV on the legendary Italian marque’s home turf.
