Englishman finishes 2016 season in eighth overall for MV Agusta

The final weekend of the 2016 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship did not produce exactly the sort of results which MV Agusta Reparto Corse rider Leon Camier would have hoped for, but he nonetheless confirmed a final championship position of eighth overall at the Gaerne Qatar Round.

Starting from 12th on the grid, Saturday’s race saw Camier finish out of the points in 18th place. In Race 2 Camier started well and was up into sixth position only to drop back over the following laps, before the race was red flagged due to an oil spillage.

The restart saw Camier make an error which cost him a few positions, but the British rider still managed to finish in the points, in 13th position.

He commented, “I made a little mistake on the start and I pushed hard to try to keep close to the guys in front, but I pushed too hard in the first corners and I made a little mistake, losing some positions. This is a little bit frustrating but I am really happy to be in eighth position in the Championship. A big thanks to all my squad and MV Agusta, I think we did a really good job this season.”
