Englishman pleased with first day of riding at Gaerne Qatar Round

The first day at the #QatarWorldSBK round, under the Losail International Circuit floodlights, saw Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) make a big improvement from FP1 to FP2 as he jumped up the timesheets to end the day fifth.

The earlier session had seen him way down in 14th but some tweaks to the set-up of his MV Agusta 1000 F4 saw him improve on his best FP1 time of 2'00.078 to an FP2 best effort of 1'58.207, which left him just under half a second off Friday pacesetter Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing –Ducati).

With an improved feeling on his bike the Englishman will go straight into WorldSBK Tissot-Superpole2 searching for the best position possible on the starting grid.

Camier enthused, “I’m really happy with this result and I wasn’t expecting it. The first session was really difficult, I think we were in 14th position or something like that. I had a few problems with the chassis and the electronics, but we made some little changes for the second session and we definitely improved.”

“I felt at the end we could even have had a bit more as a possibility but there was a lot of traffic on track. Fifth position on this track for us is really impressive and even though I don’t think Race 1 will be so easy, we have put ourselves in a good position going into qualifying. I think we have found something with the front of the bike which is exactly what we needed in Jerez. We have got the chassis working well, but we still need to improve on power, which obviously isn’t possible throughout the season quite so easily. It’s all part of the reason I’m looking forward to next year as well!”
