Roberto Tamburini wins first race in WorldSBK paddock.

Roberto Tamburini impressed many at MotorLand Aragon, taking the chequered flag in his first Superstock 1000 race on Sunday. The Team MotoxRacing rider won for BMW after passing 2014 overall runner-up Lorenzo Savadori into the final two corners.

“I did a fantastic race,” Tamburini was pleased to state. “Lorenzo was very fast. I waited because I knew I could do a very good pass, but the bike was sliding a lot.

“I tried to pass Lorenzo before the last corner, but he was very strong. I am very happy with this result. It is my first victory in the World Superbike paddock and it’s fantastic. I just want to go and see my team now because it was a very good job!”

Tamburini’s victory sees him leading the Superstock 1000 standings with 25 points, five ahead of fellow Italian Savadori as Great Britain’s Kev Coghlan completes the top three.
