The Honda, Yamaha and Kawasaki riders were assessed following the crash and declared unfit due to the injuries sustained

Iker Lecuona (Honda HRC), Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) and Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) will take no further part in the Hungarian Round for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship. The Spaniard and the Australian were two of seven riders caught up in a Turn 2 pile-up on the opening lap of Race 1 at the Balaton Park Circuit, with Lecuona diagnosed with a left wrist fracture and Gardner diagnosed with a back contusion and suspected concussion. It means the pair will miss out on WorldSBK’s action on Sunday. Gerloff was able to compete in Race 1 but went to the medical centre after the race for a check-up, and was diagnosed with a lower back injury. He, like Gardner, will have further assessments in hospital.

On the opening lap of Race 1, the entire field made it through Turn 1, but several riders collided at Turn 2. Andrea Iannone (Team Pata GoEleven), Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team), Iker Lecuona (Honda HRC), Danilo Petrucci (Barni Spark Racing Team), Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team), Ryan Vickers (Motocorsa Racing) and Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) were all involved in the crash.

Iannone, Gerloff, Petrucci and Montella were all able to take to the grid for the restarted race. Lecuona was assessed at the medical centre following the crash and was diagnosed with a left wrist fracture. Gardner was also seen at the medical centre and diagnosed with a back contusion and suspected concussion, and he was transported to hospital for further assessment. Both will most out on Sunday’s action. Following the conclusion of Race 1, when he finished in ninth, Gerloff went to the medical centre for a check-up after his symptoms arose. He was declared unfit with a lower back injury and will be further evaluated at hospital.
