Danny Webb missed the first three rounds of the season through injury and only finished one race out of four since his return

British rider Danny Webb has split by “mutual consent” with WRP Wepol Racing after a challenging start to the 2021 FIM Supersport World Championship season with the British rider taking a best result of 20th at the recent Tissot Czech Round but also failing to finish three of the four races he has competed in this season.

Webb missed the first three rounds of the campaign through a wrist injury with the British rider unable to race at MotorLand Aragon, Circuito Estoril or Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”. He returned at the Dutch Round at the TT Circuit Assen but crashed out of Race 1 and retired from Race 2. At the Autodrom Most, Webb crashed out from Race 1 but came home to finish in 20th place in Race 2; his only finish of the 2021 campaign.

It was Webb’s second full season in WorldSSP after linking up with WRP Wepol Racing in the 2019 campaign, improving his results through 2020 to claim a best finish of eighth place on two occasions and becoming a consistent competitor to finish inside the top ten throughout the 2020 campaign.

In a statement on Twitter, Webb said: “It’s been a really tough start to my second WorldSSP season and after a mutual agreement between myself and my WRP team I have decided it’s in the best interest for the team and myself to take a step back and let them continue their WorldSSP challenge. “I want to thank the team for their utmost support this year through a difficult time and all the hard work they’ve put in and I wish them the best of luck for the remainder of the season. I’m very grateful to still be a part of the WRP Wepol Racing family & I look forward to being back on a bike as soon as possible.”
