British rider Leon Camier (Moriwaki Althea Honda Team) has undergone successful surgery on his left shoulder, the operation carried out on Friday at the Arm Clinic in Wilmslow, UK, on the outskirts of Manchester.

The decision was taken to proceed with an operation, in order for the injured British rider to regain full movement of the shoulder which he injured back at the Pirelli Italian Round. Camier was innocently caught up in a crash with Sandro Cortese (GRT Yamaha WorldSBK) back at Imola, resulting in him being out of action ever since. 

When Leon tried a riding test on a Supermotard bike, it became clear that he had not yet regained the necessary strength in his shoulder to return to WorldSBK. Further medical advice was therefore sought this week, with doctors ultimately recommending an operation to stabilise the joint. 

Now with a lengthy period of time before the next track action, Camier will have plenty of time to recover ahead of the next round in Portugal, as well as the test at Portimao at the end of August.
