Lowes praises solid weekend in Thailand
Two top six positions secured for British rider
British rider Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) continues to make steps aboard his YZF-R1 machine, and secured fourth position in the hot and humid conditions which swamped the Chang International Circuit.
At a track Lowes has secured a podium finish at in the past, the 26 year old secured another front row start for race two under the reshuffling grid regulations for 2017. Despite this, a red flag meant he would have to make another solid start to fight for the podium positions. Once he got into a rhythm, Lowes was left in a lonely ride for fourth position and he now looks ahead to the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship hitting Europe.
Lowes explained his weekend overall: “I felt a lot happier in the first part of the race than the second part, which was a little bit lonely as I had a gap in front and a gap behind. But it was a solid weekend, and hopefully when we get out to Europe I can make that step forward like I did in Australia.
“In Saturday’s race I wasn’t very happy, even though it was a solid race. I really struggled and my target when I get back to Europe is to keep doing what we’re doing. I think that where we are as a team, each weekend is going to be different.”
Lowes is keen to work on his pace and build on his results secured so far this season: “We have to just maximise what we’ve got and get the best results possible for Aragon.”
