Strong end to 2017 season for British rider

Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) swept up his fourth podium of the 2017 season in the final race, as he continues to impress on board the YZF-R1. Delighted to end the season on such high form, he also secured fifth position in the championship at the Acerbis Qatar Round.

Starting from 10th position on the grid after he crashed out of the race on Friday, the British rider was able to bounce back in stunning style. Taking it steady in the opening part of the race, he was able to fully understand the potential of his Yamaha machine and was soon up and fighting for podium contention. Confident he had the pace to fight for one of the trophies, Lowes kept a cool head and got into third on the 13th lap of 17.

Delighted to secure another podium finish, Lowes explained: “Yesterdays race was really hard to take for me because I’ve felt really good all weekend, and we just made a mistake in the last corner and one mistake had a big consequence. It was hard mentally to come back today but the first six laps I didn’t feel too good and was losing some time with the guys at the front but then I started to feel a lot better and was able to get on the podium. Now we can go into the winter happy.”
