Razgatlioglu to end 2015 in Superstock 600

A change of plan sees the Champion stay put for rest of year.

Toprak Razgatlioglu will complete the 2015 season in the FIM Europe Superstock 600 Championship, the Champion has confirmed to WorldSBK.com.

Having wrapped up the title by as early as June, claiming the crown at Misano with two races still to go, the dominant Turk was expecting to end the year in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup. However, his agenda has now changed.

“After winning the title at Misano, Kenan Sofuoglu and I declared that I would be completing the season by racing in Superstock 1000 at Jerez and Magny-Cours,” Razgatlıoglu explains to WorldSBK.com. “I was very excited about this, but ultimately the team has decided it is not worth me taking the risk for only two races.

“I would like to thank everybody who has supported me this year and look forward to ending the season in the Superstock 600 class. It is good to know that I will be able to fight for two more race wins in Spain and France. Thanks again to everybody for supporting me and I look forward to seeing you all in Jerez, ahead of competing in the Superstock 1000 category from the start of 2016.”

Mentored by three-time World Supersport Champion Kenan Sofuoglu, Razgatlıoglu has dominated the Superstock 600 ranks this year. Until his title-winning race at Misano, when he finished third, he had won every one of the six races he contested dating back to Magny-Cours at the end of 2014.

He is on a run of seven consecutive podium finishes - only three shy of the overall record of ten successive top three results, achieved by Xavier Simeon in 2006. Currently 18 years of age, Razgatlıoglu will celebrate his 19th birthday on Friday 16 October.
