Guim Roda: "Sykes even stronger than last year"

The KRT team manager could not ask for more by the reigning champion.

Guim Roda is one the happiest people in the paddock about the results delivered so far this year by Tom Sykes, who is successfully defending the title won in 2013. With the reigning champion holding a solid  lead after nine rounds, the team manager of the factory Kawasaki squad in World Superbike feels Sykes is doing an outstanding job:

“Tom is on the same level or even stronger than last year, he is still building speed upon speed and his lead in the championship proves that” said Roda. “He is being very consistent in the races and the results are arriving. The racing weekend outcome can change every minute because of all the different things that can happen but we hope to continue this way until the end of the season.”

Talent and speed aside, Roda reckons that it is Sykes’ attitude and work method that really make the difference: “I think it all depends on the confidence that the rider has with his machine and when it’s very high he can bring that extra into his performance. Tom is a very smart rider, he can understand his limits and this helps him continuing to grow and learn. I think he still has room for improvement and I hope we can continue to work together for many years.”
