The Italian rider began competing in his native Italy before a switch to the 250cc World Championship heralded two podiums. He switched to the WorldSBK paddock in 2012, competing in WorldSSP and STK1000 before winning the latter’s title in 2016. A season in WorldSBK – finishing 15th – came before a return to WorldSSP where podiums were regular but a win still eluded him. That changed at Indonesia in 2021 when he won Race 1 with the Orelac Racing VerdNatura team. He remained there for 2022 and 2023, until 2024 when he moved to QJMOTOR Factory Racing Team. After a 2024 campaign of coming to understand the bike, the Italian showed very promising pace in the closing rounds of the 2025 season, missing the top 10 only once in the final two rounds of the season, setting QJMOTOR and de Rosa up for a very interesting third season together in 2026.
