Petrucci ruled out of action for the rest of the Czech Round after Race 1 opening-lap crash

The 20-time WorldSBK podium finisher will miss the rest of the round after a high-speed crash sent him to Most hospital 

Danilo Petrucci (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team) has unfortunately been declared unfit after he flew off track on the high-speed Turn 13 and was taken to Most Hospital for further assessments after an initial diagnosis of contusions to his index, ring, and pinkie fingers on his left hand, as well as contusions to his lower back, left hip and left side of his pelvis. Later on, at the hospital it was confirmed that he had additionally suffered a broken coccyx, where he was officially declared out of action for the remainder of the weekend.

The crash brought out the red flag as he was stretchered to the ambulance, a gut-wrenching sight for his BMW factory team as they were already down one full-time rider. After the red-flag restart, With Petrux’s teammate Miguel Oliveira out with injury as well, replacement rider and former full-time WorldSBK rider Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Test Team) will ride as the team’s only representative.

In a statement from the team, BMW said: “During medical checks in Most hospital, Danilo Petrucci was reported with a fracture of the coccyx. Unfortunately, he is unfit for the remainder of the Most weekend.”
