Kawasaki WorldSSP Team complete two ‘positive’ test days at Cremona
Dominique Aegerter and Jeremy Alcoba ventured to Cremona for a two-day test, albeit with rain cutting their running short on Day 2
The Kawasaki WorldSSP Team decided to complete a two-day test at the Cremona Circuit on the 13th and 14th March with riders Dominique Aegerter and Jeremy Alcoba. The pair were able to get largely dry weather running under their belts although they did lose a bit of time in the afternoon on Day 2 due to rain. Despite this, both riders left Cremona feeling positive about the work carried out on their machines.
At Phillip Island, Aegerter suffered two technical issues across both races, while Alcoba claimed P10 and P9. Both would’ve wanted more, particularly Alcoba after ending the 2025 season so strongly, while Aegerter is re-adjusting back to World Supersport machinery. The team therefore decided to head to Italy for a two-day test at Cremona, which will hold a WorldSBK round in September.
The primary reason was to solve some of the issues encountered in Australia which prevented the pair from showcasing their potential, with the team able to tick that off their to-do list before working on the setup and electronics of the Kawasaki ZX-6R 636 machine. Both riders left the test feeling positive about the upcoming round, taking place from the 27th-29th March at the iconic Autodromo Internacional do Algarve.
Discussing the test, Aegerter said: “Luckily the weather stayed fine for a day and a half. The team brought many new things to Cremona and has worked hard to solve the issues that hindered us in the race in Australia. On Day 1, I made about 30 laps, and we focused mainly on the electronics. It was very important to do this test because we finally had time to work on the bike and we are definitely more prepared than we were before Phillip Island, even if there’s still a lot of work to do if we want to achieve the goals we’ve set ourselves.”
Alcoba added: “I’m pleased we tested here at Cremona, a track we struggled at last year. We tested many new things which proved positive and at the same time I improved my feeling with the track, so much so that I was able to match last year’s times despite using harder tyres. We’ve found the direction to take, and this leaves me optimistic for the next Portimao round, but we of course need to keep working because we want to get to the level that we know is within our reach.”
