WorldSSP300 is primed for an Estoril round to remember as they set the grid for Saturday’s Race 1

With the conclusion of the FIM Supersport 300 World Championship’s Tissot Superpole session on Friday afternoon, the grid is officially set for the first race of the EICMA Estoril Round. Matteo Vannucci (PATA AG Motorsport Italia WorldSSP300) emerged as the fastest on Friday, securing his second pole of the season and the fifth pole of his career. Second-fastest was Loris Veneman (MTM Kawasaki), who landed front row for the second time, and Antonio Torres (Team ProDina XCI) rounded out the first row in P3.

VANNUCCI BACK-TO-BACK: The Italian follows up on his Aragon speed with a second pole in a row

Matteo Vannucci sat P1 early, setting a new lap record which Loris Veneman later broke, before Vannucci set a new record of 1’49.690s. The #91 held on to finish P1 for his second consecutive pole position. While Veneman couldn’t quite outpace the Italian, he landed a strong P2 result to follow up his pole position at Magny-Cours. Antonio Torres (Team ProDina XCI) finished in P3, showing good pace as he kept himself up near the top of the order the entire session.

FERNANDEZ AND THOMPSON TO SECOND ROW: The title fight’s P1 and P3 will start from P5 and P6, respectively

David Salvador (Team ProDina XCI) and his Kawasaki Ninja 400 rode well to finish P4, outpacing his title rival Fernandez by 0.032s. Benat Fernandez (Team #109 Retro Traffic Kove) had a slightly late start to the session; however, unfazed, the Championship leader wasted little time jumping into the top positions and finished the session in P5. Carter Thompson (MTM Kawasaki) finished in P6, missing the front row for the first time in two rounds.

MULYA JOINS TOP 10: The Indonesian landed among the top ten positions for the first time since Assen

Jeffrey Buis (Freudenberg KTM-Paligo Racing) will start his Race 1 from P7 to lead row three. Two tenths behind him, Brazilian rider Humberto Maier (Yamaha AD78 FIMLA by MS Racing) finished P8 after his placement P6 at Magny-Cours. The Brazilian will be looking for improved Race 1 results on Saturday, as in the last three rounds, his best Race 1 result has been P12. Felix Mulya (ProGP NitiRacing) earned his best Superpole qualification of the season in P9, improving on his previous high of P10 earned at Assen. Pepe Osuna rounded out the top 10, beating out fellow Spaniard Juan Risueno (MS Racing) in P11 by 0.066s.
