Remy Gardner renews with GRT Yamaha for 2026 and 2027
The third-year Australian WorldSBK rider has put pen to paper and extended his collaboration with Yamaha’s reference team for two more years
After earning his second career MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship podium earlier this season, another positive step forward has just been announced for Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team). Enjoying another strong season full of solid top 10 results, and with his future secured he can focus on taking a further step up the order.
The #87 joined the WorldSBK paddock in 2023 and quickly found himself settled into the point-scoring positions, growing with time to be a more regular top ten finisher. This growth in pace and confidence culminated in his sophomore year’s breakout 2024 trip to Assen’s ‘Cathedral of Speed’, where the Australian earned his first WorldSBK podium and set the race’s fastest lap. This season, he has struck gold again at the cathedral, landing another P3 to raise his tally to two podiums across his three years.
The Australian rider brought with him years of experience earned across his two years in Moto3, and his six years in Moto2. His years in Moto2 were some of the most successful of his career, winning six races, claiming 17 podiums, and five fastest laps; accolades which culminated in him lifting the 2021 Moto2 World Championship. After his Moto2 title winning campaign, and a season in MotoGP, he made the switch to WorldSBK, transitioning from KTM to Yamaha machinery in doing so.
On his new deal, Gardner said: “I am happy to be continuing with Yamaha in WorldSBK. Our journey together so far has been good, but I still feel that we are only scratching the surface of what we can achieve. We’ve shown that when everything comes together, we can be quick and fight for the podium. My target is to do this more consistently over the remainder of the 2025 season and look towards taking a further step in 2026.”
Yamaha Motor Europe Racing Sporting Manager, Nicolo Canepa, added: “Remy has become a valuable member of our line-up over the last few years, not just through his speed and potential, but also his ability to give detailed feedback which proves useful to our engineers as we look to continue developing the R1 in WorldSBK. We have already seen he can fight for the podium, and the target is to be more consistent in this goal towards the end of this season and then build on this for next year.”
