Iannone, Gardner and Gerloff declared fit ahead of French Round
The trio were ruled out of action following the Balaton Park Race 1 pile-up but have all been given the all-clear to race at Magny-Cours
With the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship rolling around to the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours, several riders took part in pre-round medical checks ahead of the French Round. All three that have been checked were caught up in the Balaton Park pile-up at Turn 2 and subsequently ruled out of the remainder of the Hungarian Round, and they have now undergone medical checks on Thursday in France after sustaining injuries.
Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) was declared unfit with a back contusion and suspected concussion, with the #87 taken to hospital for further assessments following the crash which occurred in July. He has subsequently been declared fit.
Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) was checked after the Race 1 restart in Hungary after symptoms arose following the race, and he was declared unfit with a lower back injury. Like Gardner, he was taken to hospital for further assessment. He has been declared fit to race in France.
Andrea Iannone (Team Pata GoEleven) was also checked following the restart at Balaton Park and was ruled out of Sunday’s action with a neck sprain and contusion, chest bruises and a possible AC joint separation in his right shoulder. After a check on Thursday in France, the #29 has been given the green light to compete this weekend.
Iker Lecuona (Honda HRC) was the fourth rider who was injured in the Balaton Park crash, and it was announced ahead of the French Round that he would be replaced by Sergio Garcia at Magny-Cours.
