Pirelli opt for harder tyre allocation at Most with new development rear, no SCX or SCQ available

The Official Tyre Supplier have gone back to a harder range of tyres for the upcoming Czech Round, although there will be a new development medium rear tyre

Pirelli have unveiled their tyre allocation for the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship at the Autodrom Most, with the Official Tyre Supplier opting for a harder range of tyres with no SCX or SCQ available at the Motul Czech Round. The softest tyre available is the SC0 soft, limited in its use, while there are two development SC1 medium tyres available at the rear for the WorldSBK grid to choose from in the Czech Republic.

REAR TYRE OPTIONS: SC0 for Superpole, two development SC1 solutions

For the rear tyre choices, there are three options available although the SC0 soft is limited in its use: it can only be used in the Free Practice sessions, Tissot Superpole or the Tissot Superpole Race; effectively replacing the SCQ. For the two long races, riders will be able to pick from two development SC1 medium tyres. The D0922 debuted in Australia this year, and features a different structure and compound, designed to provide more consistent performance and greater stability across a wider working range compared to the standard SC1. Alongside it is the E0250 which has the same compound as the development D0922, but a different structure aimed at further improvements to stability and improving consistency.

FRONT SOLUTIONS: two standard tyres

At the front, riders will have two standard slick choices to pick from. The SC1 medium is the softest of the two available, one of the most commonly used tyres due to its adaptability at different venues. The hardest option is the standard SC2 which offers better mechanical resistance and greater protection from wear when compared to the SC1. If it rains, the standard rain tyre will be joined by the development E0158 development rain tyre.

WORLD SUPERSPORT CHOICES: SC0 the softest rear tyre

In WorldSSP, there are two options for the front and two for the rear, all in standard form. At the front, the SC1 medium and SC2 hard are the choices, while, at the rear, it’s the SC1 medium as the harder compound and the SC0 as the softest.

PIRELLI SAYS: “Most is, along with Phillip Island, one of the two most demanding circuits of the season… That's why the allocation presents solutions that are, on average, harder than at other rounds”

Pirelli’s Motorcycle Racing Director, Giorgio Barbier, said about the tyre allocation: "Most is, along with Phillip Island, one of the two most demanding circuits of the season in terms of wear and stress on the tyres, so it's a good opportunity to check the quality of some solutions resulting from the development work we are doing to improve our product in the area of medium rear compounds, which are usually little used but at some circuits like this and the Australian one they are an obligatory choice. That's why the allocation presents solutions that are, on average, harder than at other rounds, with two rear solutions for the WorldSBK riders, both a development and a medium compound. One is the D0922 which was already present in Australia and the other is the E0250, a completely new tyre that uses the same compound as the D0922 but has a different structure, aimed at further increasing stability and consistency. As has already happened in past years, at Most the role of the SCQ will be played by the soft SC0, which is more suitable for this type of circuit and asphalt. This will therefore be a very important round to gather feedback on these new solutions and understand if our development work is moving in the right direction."
