Iannone declared fit for home round at Misano, Vierge to be reassessed after FP1
Both Andrea Iannone and Xavi Vierge have been given the all-clear to ride at Misano, although the #97 will be reassessed after Friday’s opening session
Andrea Iannone (Team Pata GoEleven) will take part in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship visit to the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli” after being declared fit ahead of the weekend’s action. For Xavi Vierge (Honda HRC), he has been given the go-ahead to ride in Friday’s Free Practice 1 session for the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna Round but will be reassessed ahead of Free Practice 2, but both will be able to ride at the iconic circuit.
Iannone was injured in a FP1 crash in the previous round at the Autodrom Most, highsiding at the final corner. He was declared unfit with fractures to the third and fourth toes on his right foot. The #29 appeared at the recent test at Misano, wearing a right boot that was one size bigger than usual and trying out a rear thumb brake. Ahead of the round, he underwent the mandatory medical check for riders declared unfit and was given the green light to ride at Misano.
For Vierge, he was injured in a crash in Race 2 at Most. The innocent victim of a Lap 1, Turn 1 incident when Jonathan Rea (Pata Maxus Yamaha) hit Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) who subsequently collected Vierge, the #97 underwent surgery on right foot fractures shortly after the Czech Round. The Spaniard did not ride at the test as he focused on his recovery and, like Iannone, underwent the pre-round medical check. He will ride in FP1 before he is reassessed again before the afternoon FP2 session.
