The French rookie showed out at home to land her maiden WorldWCR podium

The Women’s Circuit Racing World Championship’s French Round was anything but short of fireworks, and among the biggest stories was rookie Lucie Boudesseul (GMT94-YAMAHA) earning her maiden podium in the round-concluding Race 2. The Frenchwoman in her home round at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours continues to display a positive trajectory in the Championship as she acclimates to the paddock and her Yamaha R7.

Even before her home round, Boudesseul has been enjoying a very strong rookie season in WorldWCR, apart from a crash in the season-opening race at Assen. Since then, the #17 has yet to miss the top ten positions. Donington saw her land her first top five, and now at home in France, Race 2 spelled silverware for the home hero. After starting from P5, she established herself in the podium fight early on, battling with Roberta Ponziani (Klint Forward Racing Team) for the podium’s final place behind Beatriz Nelia (Ampito Crescent Yamaha), Maria Herrera (Klint Forward Racing Team) and Chloe Jones (GR Motorsport). In the penultimate lap, she was hot on Neila’s tail in P2, only just lacking the track position to commit to an overtake fully. Unfortunately for her, Jones cut inside of the Frenchwoman on Turn 13 of the final lap, shuffling her to P3, but still managing to hold off Roberta Ponziani (Klint Forward Racing Team) and her Championship leader teammate Maria Herrera, for her first-ever podium.

On her Race 2 move that saw her claim podium honours, Boudesseul said: “I really wasn’t expecting that! I was just able to make an amazing move on the last right-hand corner before the final straight. I felt so strong at that moment, and thought ‘ok, it’s now or never’ and you saw the rest! I don’t expect anything from Jerez as it’s my first time on the track in this first season in the Championship, so I want to learn and just enjoy it! For the Championship, Beatriz and Maria are both really fast, with six points between them; anything can happen! We will see in Jerez.”
