Vierge to leave Honda at the end of the 2025 season
After four seasons representing the Honda factory team, Xavi Vierge will depart the team following the conclusion of this season
Xavi Vierge (Honda HRC) will leave Honda HRC at the end of the 2025 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship season. The Spaniard first joined the factory team as a rookie in 2021 and has been in the famous Honda red colours ever since, claiming a podium in Indonesia in 2023 as his best result. The #97 has been consistent on the CBR1000RR-R, helping to bring the bike into a top-six challenger on an almost weekly basis, but will not race with Honda HRC after 2025.
Vierge joined Honda after six full seasons in Moto2, where he claimed four podiums but didn’t stand on the top step in 110 Grands Prix. His best Championship finish was 10th in 2020 and he finished in 11th place in three of his six seasons. Following his move to the WorldSBK paddock, the Barcelona native claimed a best finish of third in Race 2 of the 2023 Indonesian Round; his sole podium in the Championship.
A statement from HRC said: “Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) and rider Xavi Vierge will conclude their collaboration at the end of the 2025 FIM Superbike World Championship season. Since joining Honda HRC in 2022, Vierge has made a valuable contribution to the WorldSBK project and the development of the CBR1000RR-R, giving his all on track and in the garage, always with his trademark smile, positive spirit, and outstanding professionalism. A regular top-ten contender, he achieved his best WorldSBK result with a podium finish at Mandalika, Indonesia, in 2023. In addition to his WorldSBK efforts, Vierge was also part of the victorious Honda line-up at the prestigious Suzuka 8 Hours in 2023. Honda HRC extends its sincere thanks to Xavi Vierge for his hard work throughout their four seasons together.”
Vierge had raced alongside Iker Lecuona since joining in 2022, with the pair forming an all-rookie line-up in that season before spending four years together. It was announced recently that Lecuona would leave the team to join the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati squad and, with Honda’s statement regarding Vierge, it means Honda will have an all-new line-up in 2026.
