Going into their 20th season as being the Official tyre supplier in WorldSBK, Pirelli continues to be at the forefront of technical innovation, with new tyres including ones made from renewable materials

The 2023 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship is getting ever closer and the race to the title is about to begin. The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit returns as the curtain-raiser and its traditional starting point, but there’s plenty of news elsewhere as Pirelli once again bring new tyres. In 2023, expect to see the SC0 debut at the front, a larger WorldSSP tyre and new WorldSSP300 tyres, which features renewable materials.

NEW FRONT TYRE: the SC0 front tyre will debut in 2023, SCQ development continues

After expanding the DIABLO Superbike range in past seasons with the introduction of rear solutions in softer compounds (SCX in 2020 and SCQ in 2022), Pirelli has decided to complete the development by working on a front soft SC0 compound that is capable to balance the very high level of grip offered by the soft solutions on the rear. This tyre was available at the Jerez and Portimao tests across the end of January and start of February, meaning teams and riders are already familiar to it. This new front solution will be offered to riders starting from the first European races and this year, it will undergo continuous development so it becomes a standard solution in 2024.

At the same time, in the Superbike World Championship, Pirelli will continue to develop this product so that it guarantees greater mileage and can cover the 10 laps of the Superpole Race on all circuits. The SCQ tyre was introduced in 2022 as a new option for Tissot Superpole and also the Tissot Superpole Race. Whilst at the start, some riders were cautious to use it in the race due to trying to make it last the distance, it took victory in fine style at Donington Park with Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha Prometeon WorldSBK).

WorldSSP and WorldSSP300: larger tyre for WorldSSP, renewable materials in WorldSSP300

In the Supersport class, Pirelli will introduce the new larger size 125/70, already supplied to Superbike riders, in addition to the current 120/70 size. This will also offer WorldSSP riders a better front-to-rear axle balance.

Starting from the fifth round, the Pirelli Emilia-Romagna round at the Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”, the third round of the WorldSSP season, the riders in the Supersport 300 World Championship will use a new set of DIABLO Superbike tyres, in the front SC1 and rear SC2 compounds, which uses a percentage of renewable materials to replace those of fossil origin. However, since the first round, compared to past seasons, the riders will no longer use the SC1 rear compound but the SC2.
