Three-day Vallelunga test interrupted by bad weather for Bassani and Motocorsa Racing

One of 2021’s standout stars, Axel Bassani, was back on track in Italy although his running was hampered by cold temperatures and strong winds

A three-day test for Axel Bassani and Motocorsa Racing took place at the Vallelunga circuit in Italy although running was limited due to weather conditions. It was Bassani’s first test ahead of the 2022 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship onboard his Ducati Panigale V4 R machine which took place on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The weather conditions hampered the three days of testing for Bassani and the team, with the 22-year-old opting to remain in the box for most of Saturday and Sunday, the first two days of testing. On Saturday, Bassani tested on the road version of the Ducati machine on Saturday, completing 12 laps.

Switching to the WorldSBK-configuration of the Panigale V4 R for Sunday and Monday, strong winds in excess of 40km/h both caused a drop in temperature at the Italian venue and limited Bassani’s running, although he did take to the track throughout the day to progress with the testing programme.

With a slight improvement in the weather on Monday, albeit still with colder-than-ideal conditions, Bassani was able to spend the afternoon on the 2022 machine as he looked to complete a regular testing programme with the team. Although Bassani had been on track in 2022 previously, it was his first outing on his race bike and his next test in this configuration with the team will be at Misano on March 15th-16th.
