Heading for a fifth year in the class and still chasing an elusive first victory, Hugo De Cancellis remains with the Prodina Kawasaki outfit for the new season

Preparation for the 2022 MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship riders and teams is already underway and plans now also being put together in other classes. The 2022 FIM Supersport 300 World Championship will see Hugo De Cancellis return to the class as he goes in search of launching a Championship bid with the Prodina Racing Team aboard Kawasaki machinery, staying with the Italian team for a second season.

What will be his fifth season of World Supersport 300 action, the rider from Avignon in the south of France has been a household name in the class for the last few years. Achieving four podiums, two of which came last year when he was on his way to 12th in the Championship with the Prodina outfit, De Cancellis has been right a front-runner, despite missing the last three rounds due to injury. His best season was in 2019, when he finished ninth overall, back on Yamaha machinery. The Prodina Racing Team have been race winners in the class before and will count on De Cancellis to get them back to winning ways.

Talking about the challenge of a new season but staying with the same team, De Cancellis said: “I can't wait to get back on track and get together with the team for the 2022 season. I would like to thank Riccardo and Salvatore for their trust. I also want to thank all my sponsors and supporters for making this project possible”.

Team manager Riccardo Drisvaldi also shared his thoughts about retaining the 20-year-old Frenchman for the 2022 campaign: “Hugo is a very fast driver with proven experience in the world championship. I am sure that the qualities he showed during this season and the desire to succeed will bring us great satisfaction. I can't wait to see him riding our Kawasaki again.”
