Jonathan Rea fended off the challenge from Toprak Razgatlioglu and Garrett Gerloff to top the timesheets during Warm Up on Sunday

Sunday morning action got underway for the Prosecco DOC UK Round with reigning Champion Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) topping the timesheets ahead of his rivals with the top three separated by two tenths ahead of Sunday’s two MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship races at Donington Park.

Rea posted a time of 1’29.904s to go fastest ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK) by one tenth, and Rea was the only rider to dip below the 1’28s bracket. Razgatlioglu, who will start the Tissot Superpole Race from 13th and hoping to emulate yesterday’s incredible start, finished ahead of fellow Yamaha rider Garrett Gerloff (GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) in third.

Scott Redding (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) appears to have made a step forward with fourth place in the 15-minute session, ahead of Alex Lowes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) and Tom Sykes (BMW Motorrad WorldSBK) in fifth and sixth. Leon Haslam (Team HRC) was seventh, ensuring all five manufacturers started Sunday’s action with a top seven finish.

Redding’s teammate, Michael Ruben Rinaldi, also looks to have made some progress on his Ducati Panigale V4 R with eighth place and just three tenths off his teammate, with Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) and Andrea Locatelli (Pata Yamaha with BRIXX WorldSBK) rounding out the top ten; Locatelli bouncing back from a huge Race 1 crash on Saturday to secure a top ten finish in Warm Up.
