Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) made huge history during the Pirelli Aragon Round last weekend, achieving his 100^th victory in WorldSBK and starting 2021 in the finest of style. To celebrate his massive #REAch100 achievement, we look back the ten best victories of Rea’s illustrious WorldSBK career. From 2009 up to 2021, last lap battles to domination, Rea’s done it all.

10.) The first one can’t be ignored: Misano Race 2, 2009

A new star had been born in WorldSBK at Misano and it was Jonathan Rea. He took the lead early on in the race after fighting his way through the field, pushing ahead and leading from the front. However, he would have to make a last lap pass too, on home hero Michel Fabrizio at Turn 1. He got through on the inside, becoming the first British winner since James Toseland at Brands Hatch in 2007 and the first from Northern Ireland. They’d unlocked a monster, and now he’d go and conquer.

9.) “The man’s a magician!”: Sepang Race 1, 2015

The visit to the Sepang International Circuit in 2015 took place in startling humidity and from the off, it would be all about managing tyres until the end. Rea’s Kawasaki teammate Tom Sykes stormed away in the early stages but would soon be caught by Ducati’s Chaz Davies and Rea. Rea took the lead on the final lap and broke clear of Davies. However, the Ulsterman made a big error in the final corner, Davies cut back but Kawasaki power blasted Rea to a tenacious victory on the run to the line.

8.) The big milestone of equalling Fogarty: Imola Race 2, 2018

Starting from ninth on the grid for Race 2 at Imola thanks to the reverse grid, Jonathan Rea’s quest for a first double of the 2018 season was alive on Sunday afternoon. However, Chaz Davies’s on the ARUBA.IT Racing – Ducati was out to stop him and the two swapped places frantically on Lap 12 and 13. Rea eventually overcame contact with the Welshman earlier in the lap pass Davies on Lap 13 at the Variante Alta, before breaking clear to take a 59^th win and to equal Carl Fogarty’s all-time record.

7.) A new opponent: MotorLand Aragon Race 2 in Teruel, 2020

The 2020 season has seen everything but Michael Ruben Rinaldi’s (Team GOELEVEN) upturn in form from Jerez onwards has been a shock. However, after a first victory in Race 1 of the Pirelli Teruel Round, Rinaldi wanted to make it two in Race 2 and a huge battle soon ensued between himself, Rea and Scott Redding (ARUBA.IT Racing – Ducati). Rea battled hard and with three laps to go, took the lead from Rinaldi and sailed clear. He beat Rinaldi that day, but will it be the same in the future?

6.) Supreme comeback in emotional circumstances: Phillip Island Tissot Superpole Race, 2020

Rea crashed out of Race 1 after fighting his way through the field having been punted off track by Tom Sykes on Lap 1. The Tissot Superpole Race was Rea’s first opportunity to remind his rivals why he’s been #1 for the past five seasons. He reminded them in style by passing Toprak Razgatlioglu on the last lap at the last corner to take an emotional victory, less than 24 hours after his grandmother passed away. In the toughest of scenarios, Rea delivered; a testament to his tenacious attitude.
