Team Toth Targets Official Yamaha Electronics

Imre Toth outlines the plan for 2017

Imre Toth has stated that his Team Toth outfit is hoping to run the same electronic system as Yamaha’s main WorldSBK team next year.

At present, due to budget constrictions, the Toth bikes are running with a far less advanced electronic package to the YZF R1 raced so far this season by Sylvain Guintoli, Alex Lowes, Cameron Beaubier and Niccolo Canepa in the Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team.

“This year has been very difficult for us,” Toth begins. “We have changed riders and have had injuries: Peter (Sebestyen) towards the beginning of the year and me too. My shoulder isn’t getting any better, so I need to have an operation and hope to be better for the German Round. I need to back to 100% physical condition.”

The biggest modification for Toth in 2016 has been a switch from BMW to Yamaha machinery.

“The change is because last year we didn’t have any support from BMW, so we were really on the back foot with the electronic system and that was the main problem for us,” Toth continues. “This year, with Yamaha, we are getting better and better. Of course we have a low budget for improving the electronics, but for next season we hope we can use the same electronics the official team uses. Our plan is to stay with Yamaha and from next year we will be able to push harder, I am sure.”

Team Toth’s sole points collection of 2016 thus far came when Polish rider Pawel Szkopek finished 15th in Race 1 at Misano on 18 June.
