Davies heads up the chasing pack at MotorLand

Tom Sykes took the top honours back for Kawasaki Racing Team this afternoon after Ducati’s Chaz Davies went fastest in the morning session. With weather conditions still good, a shootout for the quickest lap saw times start to tumble dramatically and the Kawasaki rider come out on top.

Chaz Davies kept his rhythm at MotorLand and ended the session in P2, just over three tenths in arrears of Sykes, and Honda rider Michael van der Mark took back top honours at Ten Kate by setting the third fastest lap of the day.

His teammate Nicky Hayden and Milwaukee BMW rider Karel Abraham both had brief excursions off track early in the session, both escaping with no consequence. Chaz Davies teammate Davide Giugliano improved greatly on his morning session to come fourth, just in front of an incredible showing from Aprilia rider Lorenzo Savadori who put his Noale machine into fifth position.

Xavi Forés proved the fastest local in P9, with compatriot Jordi Torres coming home in P12 and just edging out teammate Markus Reiterberger.

The top ten times from the session determine entry to Tissot-Superpole 2 for tomorrow, with other riders heading through to Superpole 1 to fight for the chance to battle out the top twelve grid positions.

FP3 sees WorldSBK back on track tomorrow at 8:45am local time (GM +2).
