Ricardo Russo has taken pole position in qualifying for tomorrow’s STK1000 race at Assen, heading former Cup winner and series returner Leandro Mercado in P2 and Raffaele De Rosa in P3 to complete the front row on his BMW.

Roberto Tamburini heads up the second row in P4, and Michael Ruben Rinaldi puts in another good performance to take P5, fresh from the podium at MotorLand Aragón after having narrowly been beaten by experienced teammate Mercado.

Marco Faccani, after suffering a technical problem that rendered him unable to race in Aragón, will complete the second row on his Ducati 1199 Panigale. Dutch rider Danny de Boer will start his home race from P8, with compatriot Wayne Tessels in P10.

The session was interrupted by a red flag after some big incidents saw a number of riders suffer crashes. Florian Marino and Luca Vitali were involved in one incident, whilst Andrea Tucci suffered another. All three riders are conscious and stable, and to undergo further checks. Marino has a broken right leg, Tucci suffered concussion but is now conscious, and Vitali has a contusion of the thoracic spine.
