Title attack still possible for first American World Supersport winner.

PJ Jacobsen put his name into the history books at Sepang last weekend by becoming the first American rider to claim a World Supersport race win.

Prior to the win, the 21-year-old from New York had also become the first pole-sitter in World Supersport history. With his capabilities having been confirmed in Malaysia, how does the American now view the title battle?

“I am just going to focus on winning races,” he says. “I’m just trying to be there every weekend. Anything can happen. Kenan (Sofuoglu) didn’t have the best weekend this weekend. Jules (Cluzel) is going to be very difficult for the last three rounds. I will have to arrive to them even more prepared because even he will.

“Like I’ve said before, every night when I go to bed I can’t stop thinking about this championship. It would be a dream come true. But I’m here to win races now, put it all together and see where it gets us.”

With three rounds to go and a maximum of 75 points still up for grabs, Jacobsen (CORE’’ Motorsport Thailand) remains third in the standings but is now a reduced margin of 28 points behind leader Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing).
