Born on 27th August 1987, Jordi Torres Fernández has been two time Spanish Moto2 Champion, as well as nationally competing in the Supersport and Stock Extreme categories. From 2011, the rider from Rubí (Barcelona) took a permanent place in the Moto2™ World Championship. In 2013 he secured three podium finishes and took his first win in the German GP at Sachsenring, followed by podiums in Australia and finally in Valencia.
In 2015 Torres made the jump to the Superbike World Championship with the Red Devils Aprilia. The Spaniard settled in well in the production based series and impressed in the first rounds of the season, ending the year in fifth overall and securing Rookie of the Year. Torres was able to end his first season on a high, as he took his first victory in Race 1 of Qatar.
In 2016 the Rubenian rider joined the ambitious project assembled by Althea Racing after his association with BMW Motorrad Motorsport. Joining forces with Reiterberger at the helm of a BMW S1000 RR, Torres completed a solid campaign that ended in 6th position, although he could not increase his count of podiums and victories. After re-signing with the Althea team for 2017, Torres aims to take advantage of the experience gained with the German brand to battle up with the front runners in his third season of WorldSBK.
