2019 action continues in Southern Spain

Despite overnight rainfall, the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship riders weren’t stalled in getting out on track at Circuito de Jerez Angel Nieto, and it was Marco Melandri (GRT Yamaha Team) who was first out on track.

Making his return to the Japanese factory for the first time since 2011, Melandri wasn’t wasting any time in getting reacquainted with the YZF-R1. Rivals soon followed out on track, and Joanthan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) was the fastest man in the morning, with a lap time of 1.41.322.

Returning Leon Haslam (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) secured the second fastest time so far this morning with 1.41.65, 0.332s ahead of Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team). WorldSBK rookie Alvaro Bautista (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) began a strong morning of action, with a time of 1.42.633.
