Spaniard elated to secure debut podium

Following a sensational FIM Supersport 300 World Championship race at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, Manuel Gonzalez (Pertamina Almeria BCD Junior Team by MS) was able to secure his best ever finish in the series, taking a podium finish ahead of the summer break.

Improving on his best ever finish of ninth position, the Spaniard put in a stunning performance on the closing laps as the battle continues to head down to the final lap in the new series. Putting on a clear strategy in what is always a hectic battle in the series, it was clear he had the pace all race as he led over the line for four times out of 13 laps and he wasn’t giving up.

Delighted to take a podium finish in the series, he explains: "Today has been a great race, very fun. There were many overtakes but even so, I rode very calmly because I had a clear strategy and I knew where and when I could overtake. I am very happy to finally have achieved the podium, it has cost us a lot but we already have it here. I want to thank all those who support me; I dedicate this race to my great friend Andreas. "
