British rider leaves Jerez with two fourth positions

As his season continues to improve and he is looking to end 2017 on a high, Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) took home two fourth position finishes at the Circuto de Jerez, and despite missing out on a podium was happy with his weekends work.

The Spanish circuit has been a tough venue for the British rider in the past, but he was able to secure two front row starts in front of the Spanish fans this weekend, and notes he now needs to improve his pace in the opening laps of the race in order to work on his overall performance.

Crossing the line in fourth position this afternoon, he was able to take some positives from the weekend and looks ahead to the final round of the season in Qatar.

“I wasn’t happy with the first six laps of the race,” begins a critical Lowes. “I had a lot of work to do to make me feel quite comfortable, which meant I had a lot to do in the second half. It was difficult because I was actually quite strong in the second half of the race which was difficult because I was too far behind, but I’m really happy with two fourths and I’m looking forward to Qatar.

I need to be able to have better starts and have better pace in the first few laps, and then normally if I’m relatively close in the first half, I am quite strong in the second half of the race, so we’ll work hard with that last one and try for another podium.”
