British rider thrilled to take podium in final WorldSBK race

Counting his lucky stars under the night skies of Qatar, Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) secured a solid second position finish after a difficult race two. Getting a storming start off the line, the British rider was happy to take second position and finishes the season with two more trophies.

The British rider himself couldn’t believe what a fantastic start he got off the line, and was felling comfortable with the pace of his Panigale early on in the 17 lap race, swiftly getting into the lead under the night skies. However a huge moment on lap four cost Davies the lead but the amazing save – which saw him smash part of his screen – meant he changed the strategy of his race, and he began to push for second position. Crossing the line with a comfortable lead over Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team), he was thrilled to have ended the season on such a high.

Not only did he take another spot on the brand new podium, but he also secured the runner up spot in the championship standings, which he was delighted about: “I did all that I could today and did all that I could to get second in the championship. There’s no shame in P2 today, I felt like I ran a good race and I kept Jonny a little bit honest but I just couldn’t find that little bit extra so hats off to him. But I’m really happy with the podium and just happy to see that P2, so we can now go into the winter in good spirits. It was a hard race, we had a massive moment on lap four, I don’t know how I stayed on it but I just was thrilled to get that second position in the championship standings.”
