Camier: "We managed to get a good result at one of our weakest tracks"

British rider thrilled with pace in America

Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) secured a top six finish in the opening MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship race at Laguna Seca, and following a tense battle with Xavi Fores (BARNI Racing Team) he was thrilled with the pace throughout the race.

With a steady start for the British rider, he was able to use his bike to its true potential and was able to fight his way through the field and close in on Fores for fifth position. Not wanting to risk too much and throw away his race pace, Camier was suffering with some grip issues under the blistering heat which meant he didn’t want to risk a strong points scoring finish.

Happy to take sixth position, he looks forward to race two on Sunday: “I was pushing so hard from really early on, it was a really good race and Fores was riding really well. I think I caught him and was within six tenths of him but I was losing the front so much. I lost the front once and I nearly caught him, I couldn’t quite get him. All in all it was a really good race, I’m really happy, its once of our weakest tracks and we managed to get a good result, we won’t change much, maybe try and get some performance from a few parts but I’m happy. It was to be expected to have a low grip and consistent from the tyres was good, I lapped the whole race within six tenths, the tyres were working better to be expected. With the crazy hot temperature it’s normal to have everyone struggled.”

See if Camier can produce another strong performance from the front row of the grid, as he continues to improve on his pace with his 1000 F4, all on the WorldSBK VideoPass.
