British rider positive from lap times secured in free practise

Heading into the teams second home race of the season, Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) was able to secure a top five finish in the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship this weekend as he continues to work on race pace.

Struggling to get in full sessions at the beginning of the season with his Italian machine, Camier is beginning to find his feet and leave his early season problems behind him. Following a positive test at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli two weeks ago, the British rider was 0.366s behind Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team) in first position.

Battling through the heat in the Pirelli Riviera Di Rimini Round, Camier’s goal is to keep his consistency at the highest level: “It’s been a good day, we had a good test a couple of weeks ago and we made another little step with the bike. To be honest we were trying to work on race pace and it’s good to make another step, but what we really need to focus on is race pace. It’s what we need the most and today, we had a good rhythm but it’s hard to be consistent. We made some good laps on old tyres at the end, so it’s good to be fast with them, but all in all the bike is working good. I had a smooth start to the weekend, it’s nice to get a good rhythm and we are keen to keep improving.”

Camier will head out for Free Practice 3 under Italian skies for 08:45LT, before the battle for Superpole is on at 10:30LT which can all be followed on the VideoPass.
