Italian to replace his compatriot until the end of the 2016 season

VFT Racing rider Fabio Menghi was back on track after his crash in Phillip Island had sidelined him for much of the early part of the season, but following the GEICO US Round at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Menghi has been forced to undergo further surgery. The surgery, to a tendon in his bicep and the supraspinatus tendon, will need another longer period of recovery and its down to his fellow Italian Luca Scassa to take the reigns of the team's Ducati 1199 Panigale R. Scassa will be on track from the Pirelli German Round onwards, as the summer break comes to an end.

"I'm very happy that Menghi family and VFT team decided to call me in order to replace Fabio due to his injury," said Scassa. "It means that we've been working well together. I'm training and I hope to do well and resume the work we had started. These will be quite important races for me because I want to understand what to do in my future and how to set my upcoming projects. It will be a nice test for me and I will give 100% as always."

"The bright side is that this year I put a lot of titanium in my body, and I'm coming out of this a lot harder," added Fabio Menghi. "Seriously, I'm really disappointed not to be able to take part to the next races, but the problem with the shoulder turned out to be more complex than expected and I need more time and much rehabilitation to heal. For the next races Luca Scassawill replace me, we already know him since he already replaced me in Sepang and Donington. I really hope that Luca will reach those high level results that VFT deserves. A thank is needed for all the sponsors that keep standing us in this season and to all the people, the fans who are next to me and never miss making me feel their appreciation."

The VFT Team will be back on track alongside their WorldSBK contemporaries at the Lausitzring from the 16th-18th September for the Pirelli German Round.
