2013 Champion Tom Sykes and reigning manufacturers’ Champions KRT give us a glimpse behind the scenes

See the importance of attention to detail for a team in WorldSBK, with a look at the work done behind the scenes by the mechanics of KRT. 2013 Champion Tom Sykes introduces this video in which an important but often hidden facet of a winning combination is revealed: Airbox Maintenance.

An airbox is an empty chamber that holds the air filter and provides and keeps the flow of air to the engine both clean and controlled. Similarly to an exhaust, performance gains can be found in differing air flows going into a combustion engine, and teams and bikes use different systems to exploit the air box in different ways: meaning airbox maintenance is a vital part of looking after a motorcycle.
