Ducati Donington Bound

Aruba.it Racing duo looking forward to Round 7 in the UK

A Ducati on the podium in each Race in Sepang means the Aruba.it Racing team head to Chaz Davies’ home Round ready for another showdown and confident of challenging at the front at Donington Park. Davies also climbed on the podium twice in 2015, a good omen for an ever-faster 1199 Panigale R.

Davide Giugliano, fresh from his impressive P2 in Race 2 in Sepang, is also confident with a new base setup found to help the Italian challenge for the podium. Giugliano is also the most recent polesitter for Ducati at the UK track.

“After Sepang, it’s finally time to race at home,” said Davies. “It’s always nice to see everybody and ride in front of my family and friends, but on the other hand it’s just another race and it’s important not to get too carried away and to maintain the same approach. Our goal is, as usual, to be competitive from the very first session and keep improving throughout the weekend to finish in front. It won’t be easy to beat the competition, especially Sykes, but last year we already made a step in the right direction after a difficult 2014, and I believe that the different gearbox could give us some extra help. We have the potential to aim high.”

“Donington is a track that I really like,” added Giugliano. “I usually managed to be quite fast, even though last year, in the few rounds I participated in, I only missed the podium there. We’ve been getting progressively closer to the front, and we analyzed in depth the data from Malaysia to gather some interesting indications. We need to build on the experience from recent races and the confidence gained after Race 2 in Sepang to be even more competitive. Despite our speed in the wet, I hope the weather conditions are nice and stable because we can and we must score a good result in the dry as well.”

The two Aruba.it riders will be out on the 4km parkland track for the first time in 2016 on Friday 27th May as Round 7 gets underway at Donington Park in the heart of England.
