WorldSBK’s riders, new and old return to the track for their second day of testing to make headway with their 2026 platforms 

Spain’s Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto, Andalucia plays host once again on the heels of the season-concluding Pirelli Spanish Round. Several new names won’t be present at the test such as BMW’s new duo of Miguel Oliveira and Danilo Petrucci are occupied with MotoGP responsibilities and the former Ducati independent rider is still recovering from his hand surgery which required him to miss the final rounds of the season. However, former Honda riders Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge will be taking to the track in their new digs, Vierge made the jump to the Pata Maxus Yamaha garage to take the seat left behind from the retiring Jonathan Rea (Pata Maxus Yamaha). His former teammate Lecuona will be moving to Ducati machinery where he will ride alongside Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) in the Spaniard’s fifth season in the Championship. 18:00- That's curtains on the Jerez test! your three fastest times on the day are Nicolo Bulega in P1, Iker Lecuona in P2, and Alex Lowes in P3

17:28 - Michael van der Mark keeps at it with a half hour left in the session. He set a new 1'38.998s time which lifts him to P4 ahead of Bassani and makes him the fourth rider to breach the 1'38s mark

17:05 - With his 70th lap, Iker Lecuona improves his time to 1'38.444s to sit P2, 0.857s behind his new teammate Bulega

16:05 - Ryan Vickers continues to collect valuable data for Honda ahead of the winter break as the rider finishes his 25th lap of the day

15:43 - Lecuona has hit the 50 lap mark as he continues to lap within the 1'39 with consistency

15:33 - Michael van der Mark pulls out on track for his 11th stint, he has logged laps in the low 1'40s-high 1'39s with consistency. His fastest lap remains his 1'39.081 recorded earlier in the day

15:06 - Lecuona returns to the track for his seventh stint on track, currently having ridden 41 laps

14:36 - Bulega, Lowes and Bassani will each be calling it quits on their Jerez test from here on out, however, motivated to continue to acclimate himself, Lecuona will remain at the test

14:33 - following their lunch break, Lecuona has returned to the circuit where he's joined by Honda test riders Perolari and Techer. Currently Lecuona sits at 1'39.032, 1.445s off of his teammates time in just his second ride atop the Ducati Panigale V4 R

13:42 - On his 44th lap, Lowes sets a 1'38.756s time, drawing to within +1.169s of Bulega at the top of the timesheet

13:35 - Both Bimota riders are back on track. Having ridden 43 laps each, they have ran the most laps of any manufacturer today

12:51 - Michael van der Mark continues to run four- lap stints, his fastest time of 1'39.081s nearly dipping into the 1'38 mark

12:39 – Bulega’s pace has been impressive all day, setting times in the 1’38s consistently. Now in his fourth stint, he’s recorded three consecutive laps in the 1’37 range, including a new session-high of 1’37.587s

12:35 - Bulega, Lecuona and van der Mark all return to the track as they set out of the pits from P1, P4, and P6 respectively

12:32 - Bassani continues to put in the work for his Bimota team, having ridden the most laps of all riders so far with 36, and so far, third fastest with a time of 1'39.050s

12:29 - 2025 WorldSSP rider Corentin Perolari is on track, riding with Alan Techer and Ryan Vickers who are each testing on Honda CBR 100 RR-R's

11:54 - On his 22nd lap, the #22 clocks in a 1'38.924s time making him just the second rider to place into the 1'38 range

11:28 - Alex Lowes currently sits fourth-fastest on the timesheets, he remains in the box after his most recent nine-lap stint, setting a personal best of the day, a 1'39.182s effort

11:14 - Axel Bassani climbs to second fastest in his third stint with a 1'39.089s time as he and his Bimota camp continue to tinker with the KB998 Rimini after its first WorldSBK season

10:51 - Bulega strikes gold on the final lap of his six-lap stint, his 1'37.837s lap setting the first time seen on track in the 1'37s since last weekend's Tissot Superpole Race

10:41 - In just his second lap, Bulega becomes the first rider to break into the 1'38 range with his 1'38.851s time, promoting him to the top of the order

10:39 -  Factory Ducati rider Nicolo Bulega rolls out onto the circuit, joining Alex Lowes and Michael van der Mark

10:35 – Lecuona looks to be continuing to settle in well in red, jumping to the top of the timesheet with a 1’39.165s time, an effort which would have seen him sit P2 on Day 1’s timesheet

10:26 - Test riders Michael van der Mark and Corentin Perolari take to the track on to continue their work developing their respective bikes, BMW's M1000 RR and Honda's CBR 1000 RR-R

10:23 – Lecuona returns to the box as Alex Lowes (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) kicks off his test at Jerez to join Bassani on track setting the day’s fastest time so far in his second lap, a 1’39.932s effort

10:16 - Excited for his second day with the Ducati Panigale V4 R, Iker Lecuona rolls onto the track and records the first time of the day, a 1'50.401s

10:10 – Bimota’s Axel Bassani rings in Day 2 as he is the first rider to take to the track to get a feel for the conditions before returning to pit lane

10:00 – Welcome back to a sunny second day of testing in Jerez! No riders have taken to the track yet but the session has officially begun!

DAY 1

18:00 – Vierge retains his P2 spot 1.110s behind Bulega with three other Yamahas close behind to close the day with a top three of Bulega, Vierge and Manzi!17:55 – Rolling out of pit lane with five minutes left in the session, Locatelli, Manzi and Vierge all emerge on track

17:47 – Vierge takes top Yamaha honors with his 1’39.136s time to sit P2

17:33- on his 87th lap and counting, Manzi clocks in second fastest and fastest of the Yamaha R1’s with his 1’39.349s time

17:21 – Sofuoglu jumps up the order thanks to his 1’39.433s time, earning him third fastest 

17:19 – Bulega keeps the hammer down with 40 minutes to go, setting a new best lap time of 1’38.027s

17:01- Stefano Manzi (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) and Mattia Rato (Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team) are currently the riders who have laid down the most laps, with 74 and 60 respectively

16:17 – Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) raises the bar even further with his 1’38.502s time, faster than his fastest time in Race 1 and Race 2 in the 2025 season’s final round

16:11 – Xavi Vierge (Pata Maxus Yamaha) on his 39th lap jumped up to second place, the first riders whose time clocked in within half a second of the #11’s since he set it

15:48 – Locatelli laid down his personal best time of 1’39.479s on his seventh stint, drawing him to within 0.514s of Bulega in P1

15:22- Currently fourth on the timesheets, Stefano Manzi (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) has hit the 50-lap mark and is second fastest among Yamaha riders, just 0.002s behind Andrea Locatelli (Pata Maxus Yamaha) 

14:55 – Still not 100% from his final-round crash,  Remy Gardner’s (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) test day comes to a close

14:29 – Lecuona’s eight-lap first ride on the 2026 Ducati Panigale V4 R places him 11th fastest

14:25 - Bulega's fifth lap's 1'38.965s time punches his ticket to the top of the timesheet, the time clocking in more than half a second faster than the previous fastest lap of 1'39.536s set by Michael van der Mark

14:10 – Ducati factory pair Iker Lecuona makes his Ducati debut on track with 2025 second place finisher Nicolo Bulega

13:22 – Philipp Oettl (Feel Racing WorldSSP Team) took to the track for a six-lap stint, setting a new fastest lap among the WorldSSP riders

13:02 - Raindrops again starting to fall on-track

12:54 - Locatelli pulls away from pit lane to rejoin the running

12:50 – Gerloff and Rato return to the tarmac for their second stints to join Fores on track. This marks Gerloff's first lap after his initial 12-lap run while Rato has already laid down 24 laps

12:33 – Van der Mark leads the WorldSBK field with his 1’39.536s time while Simon Jespersen (EAB Racing Team) is the sole WorldSSP rider to register a time, clocking in at 1’45.641s 

12:00 - 'Loka' takes P1 with a 1'39.602s time, his new teammate Vierge simultaneously climbs into P5 behind van der Mark with a 1'41.347s

11:58 – Bahattin Sofuoglu (Yamaha Motoxracing WorldSBK Team) and Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) roll out onto the tarmac, the Turk quickly jumping up into the top three with a 1’39.793s time

11:51 – Yamaha factory pair Andrea Locatelli and Xavi Vierge take to the track, the first ride on the R1 for the Spaniard

11:47 – Gerloff lands the session’s first time under 1’40 as he, van der Mark and Bimota test rider Javi Fores comprise the three fastest riders so far

11:37 – Garrett Gerloff (Kawasaki WorldSBK Team) takes to the track, now reunited with former Crew Chief from his Yamaha and BMW days Les Pearson who the American will look to synergize with again in 2026

11:34 - Stefano Manzi moments later improves on Rato's time, setting the first lap of the session within the 1'42's

11:31 - Mattia Rato set a new fastest time on his ninth lap of 1'44.182

10:55 - The rain appears to be letting up, but the track is empty as the riders who did appear each returned to their boxes after five laps or less and have remained there as they wait for the rain to dry

10:44 – Michael van der Mark (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Test Team) rolls out from pit lane making his debut as a test rider for the German manufacturer

10:30 – Yamaha MotoxRacing’s new rookie rider Mattia Rato emerges from the box with Stefano Manzi (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) who is riding for the first time with his new WorldSBK team after his WorldSSP title winning season in 2025!

10:00 - The test is officially underway however riders have yet to take to the track on account of rainfall at the circuit
