The Welshman, who currently sits P2 in the Championship, did the double last time out in Aragón and gains automatic entry to Tissot-Superpole 2 on Saturday by virtue of his P10 result on Day 1 at Assen, despite a crash in FP1.

“It happens, it’s wet,” explains Davies. “I’m not injured so it’s all good. We’re just working on the bike because there’s a chance it could be wet tomorrow and less of a chance but still a chance it could be wet on Sunday, so it’s important to figure it out. Our bike now, compared to the last time I rode it in the wet, is very, very different so we have to figure a few things out and get it working to my liking but it’s in the ballpark.”

The paddock remains unsure about the weather for the rest of the weekend in Assen, with the possibility of wet or dry races still up in the air.

“Tomorrow if it does dry up, I’ve got a bike that I’m up to speed on really quickly,” added last year’s Championship runner up. “I think in every race I’ve been bang on the pace early in every session and that, with the schedule and the weather, could really help us tomorrow.”

Davies and his Aruba.it teammate Davide Giugliano will be back on track on Saturday morning at 8:45am local time (GMT +2), to see if weather conditions improve and the track dries out.
