#FrenchWorldSBK FP1: Davies Sets the Pace Early

Ducati rider quickest in first session

Aruba.it Racing- Ducati’s Chaz Davies reigned supreme in Friday morning’s first outing at Magny-Cours, before reigning Champion Jonathan Rea from Kawasaki Racing Team briefly took the top spot before Davies put in the fastest lap in the later stages of the session to regain first, 0.040 seconds ahead. Rea finished in second ahead of Xavi Fores for Barni Racing Team in third.

Kawasaki Racing Team’s Tom Sykes finished in P4 after a brief stint at the top with Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) finishing in a close fifth. Leon Camier (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) showed good pace ending the session in sixth ahead of Althea BMW Racing Team’s Markus Reiterberger in seventh.

Teammate to Lowes and home hero, Sylvain Guintoli showed early French promise sitting in fifth for most of the session, but by the end was relegated to eighth- a position he will look to improve in the next session if he is to fly the French flag on the weekend. Jordi Torres ended the sesssion in P9 for Althea BMW Racing Team and Honda World Superbike Team’s Nicky Hayden rounded out the top 10.

FP2 gets underway at 13:30 local time (GMT+2) to decide entry to Saturday’s Tissot-Superpole 2.
