Terol: ‘The WorldSBK paddock is a family’

Former 125cc World Champion on new adventure.

Nico Terol is just one of the many riders in the WorldSBK paddock with a title to his name, having historically won the last ever 125cc Grand Prix road racing World Championship in 2011. For this season, the Spaniard is presented with an all-new challenge as he competes in World Superbike for the first time.

“I’m happy here and more relaxed,” the Althea Racing rider says. “This paddock is a family and I like it a lot. The format is quite different; it’s my first time of having two races on one Sunday! The first race is important to push hard for a good result because you are then more motivated for the second one.”

Describing the main differences between a World Superbike machine and Moto2 bike, the like of which he competed with last year, Terol added:

“The biggest differences are the power, electronics and tyres. In terms of braking, you have to brake harder entering the corner because in Moto2 the front tyre is harder, so it is more difficult to brake so hard into the corners.”
