The Portuguese star is a household name in Portugal, and now you have the chance to learn more about the World Superbike rookie

The MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship is heading to Portugal and for Miguel Oliveira (ROKiT BMW Motorrad WorldSBK Team), it’ll be his first home round in WorldSBK. The rookie moved across from MotoGP to WorldSBK for 2026 and will once again get to race in front of his home fans at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, aiming to win on home soil as he did in the 2020 Portuguese Grand Prix.

Ahead of the Pirelli Portuguese Round, we sat down with the #88 in his hometown of Almada, south of capital city Lisbon, to discuss a variety of topics. Oliveira discusses the “privilege and honour” of racing in front of his home fans and the way motorsport’s popularity has increased in Portugal which coincided with his success in MotoGP, where he won five Grands Prix. The special feature also showcases his collection of bikes and leathers from his successful career, while there are also appearances from his family who make up a huge part of Oliveira’s life. He explains the best part of a weekend is when they’re at the track, he can take off his leathers and see them in the motorhome. There’s also talk about his adaptation to WorldSBK and joining BMW, with the German manufacturer looking for a third consecutive Riders’ Championship.
