Bulega determined to keep his eyes on the World Championship: "Even if we’re winning we want to improve for the next one."

The Italian’s success this year continues unblemished as he makes it 15 in a row in 2026, and 19th in a row, including his victories at the conclusion of last season

Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) continued his MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship winning streak, going at the Autodrom Most as he rounded out the Czech Round with a stunning hat-trick. The #11 won a hard-fought Race 1 against teammate Iker Lecuona before controlling proceedings in Sunday’s two races to take his record run of consecutive wins up to 19 races, with 15 of those coming in 2026.

In the morning Tissot Superpole Race, ‘Bulegas’ initially lost out at the start after he ran wide at Turn 1. He dropped behind Lecuona and Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team), but made light work of dispatching the #5 to move into P2 on the opening lap. It was not long before he was back in his original starting position, getting ahead of Lecuona at the start of Lap 2 under braking at Turn 2. From there, the #11 was able to control proceedings for his 14th win of the year – matching his tally from last season.

Speaking about his Superpole Race, the Italian star said: “I’m very happy considering that Most and Balaton are not my best tracks, so I’m really happy to get another hat trick, my fifth hat trick of this year, making 19 races in a row. We’re working very hard, Ducati is the best bike right now, I’m working a lot at home, and it’s making for a good package. Even if we’re winning, we want to improve for the next one.”

In Race 2, it was a case of same but different. This time, at the start of the race, the #11 did not drop down the order and converted his pole position into P1 after the opening chicane. Over the first five laps, he slowly built his gap over Lecuona to 0.817s, before the #7 started closing in. On both Laps 11 and 12, the gap was 0.354s as, remarkably, the pair had set the same exact lap time on Lap 12; showing they were both pushing as hard as enough others in the fight for victory. In the end, Bulega was able to resist his teammate’s challenge as he made it 19 wins in a row, and 15 to start the 2026 season; more than he won last year.

Reflecting on Race 2, Bulega added: “Iker was very strong during the race. We changed something with the bike's settings; it was very good on fresh tyres, but from the halfway point onwards, I started to struggle more than in Race 1. We may need to study it and make a compromise between the two; the important thing is that we have 25 more points.“

His Race 2 win means he matches Carlos Checa’s tally from his 2011 title-winning year (with the caveat that Bulega has three races per weekend while Checa had two). His next target is Alvaro Bautista (Barni Spark Racing Team), who won 16 races in both the 2019 and 2022 seasons, as well as Jonathan Rea, who won the same number in 2017. If Bulega completes a hat-trick next time out at MotorLand Aragon, he will be on 18 wins in the 2026 season, putting him level with the number of victories scored by Toprak Razgatlioglu in his 2024 title-winning year. ‘El Turco’ also holds the second-most wins in a season, with 21, set last year, while Bautista holds the outright record with 27.
