Rookie Masia on first WorldSSP podium: "I’m happy with my performance and rhythm in Race 2, our time will come"
Masia looks more and more comfortable by the day on track, his recent Race 2 P3 meant a first WorldSSP Podium for the Spanish rookie
Among 2025’s talented host of FIM Supersport World Championship riders, Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) has distinguished himself in his top 8 consistency despite his lack of familiarity in the category; and At Cremona Circuit’s Race 2, the Spanish rookie earned his first podium. Apart from a crash at Phillip Island, the Valencian rider has finished inside the top 8 in every race of the season so far. With P4’s in Race 1 at Assen, then Cremona, and most recently his Race 2 P3, Masia looks to be settling in well to his WorldSSP environment. If he continues to make himself comfortable and keeps taking steps forward, the Championship conversation may have a new contender.
Last time out at the Pirelli Dutch Round was a step forward for Masia, recording his best WorldSSP result at the time of P4, complimented by a Race 2 P5. At the most recent Acerbis Italian Round, Masia turned it up a gear. Leading Race 2 for 17 of the 20 laps, only shuffled down to an eventual P3 after an incisive move by Stefano Manzi (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) in the final corner of Lap 17, opening a gap which Tom Booth-Amos (PTR Triumph Factory Racing) took advantage of to finish in P2.
Masia showed composure in his mindset regarding his P3; while the race win was very close, the rookie is content to focus on growth and let the results come: “I’m really happy about Sunday’s result, we did the maximum that we could. We’re still missing a little bit in the last laps, but I’m happy with my performance and my rhythm in the race. Our time will come, and we are still learning the bike, the tyres, everything. but the time will come. Working more, Manzi is a really experienced rider, in this Championship he feels at home, and of course being at home here in Italy he is going to try his best and give everything. I am happy because I gave it everything I had, and we will find what we were missing to fight with him in the last corner.”
