The #65 collided with Remy Gardner on the opening lap of the Superpole Race, and he won’t take part in Race 2

Jonathan Rea (Pata Maxus Yamaha) will not take part in Race 2 at the Circuito de Jerez - Angel Nieto, Andalucia after being declared unfit following a crash in the Tissot Superpole Race. The #65, whose full-time career came to an end at the Pirelli Spanish Round, was diagnosed with a right knee sprain and contusion following a collision with Remy Gardner (GYTR GRT Yamaha WorldSBK Team) at Turn 3 on the opening lap of the 10-lap race.

Rea had been finding form on the Yamaha R1 since announcing his retirement ahead of the French Round and was aiming to bow out of WorldSBK with a strong result. He crashed in Race 1 at Turn 4 yesterday but had hopes of signing off well on Sunday. However, those hopes have been dashed following the news he won’t race in the final race of the 2025 season.

Rea’s career ends with the #65 holding basically every record in WorldSBK: he has the most titles (6), wins (119), podiums (264), fastest laps (104) and, despite the unfortunate circumstances of his farewell, ends his career as the undisputed greatest of all time in WorldSBK.
