After a great jump off the line from the two Italians, Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing - Ducati) claimed the holeshot from his P4 start, tailed by Axel Bassani (bimota by Kawasaki Racing Team) on his inside as the pair entered Turn 1. Suddenly, Bassan’s bike slid out from under him, careening into Bulega and sending the both of them into the gravel as the rest of the field thundered by.
