The latest move in the FIM Supersport World Championship rider market is the announcement that Italian MotoE star Mattia Casadei will be joining the WorldSSP paddock for the rest of 2025 as a part of Motozoo ME Air Racing. Casadei has competed in WorldSSP before. The 25-year-old Italian competed for two rounds of the 2022 season, adapting quickly to the competition and earning a pair of eighth-place finishes. His brief 2022 stint in WorldSSP may prove beneficial to the Italian, who will return to MV Agusta machinery in 2025.
As for his accolades, Casadei brings Championship pedigree to an already-stacked WorldSSP grid. Having competed in MotoE since 2019, he currently leads in the 2025 MotoE Riders’ Championship standings, and he won the 2023 World Championship, winning five races and earning another five podiums in that campaign. Across his six years in MotoE, he has accrued a total of 34 podiums and 11 wins,
On his opportunity to compete in WorldSSP at Misano, Casadei said, “I want to express my gratitude to Fabio Uccelli and Motozoo Me Air Racing Team for this incredible opportunity. I can’t wait to embark on this new adventure in the Supersport World Championship. We are starting midway through the season, and I recognize that it won't be easy; however, I’m approaching this challenge with great enthusiasm and a strong desire to give my best right from the start. Misano holds a special significance for me, and debuting with the team on this track will be an unforgettable experience. I also want to thank LCR MotoE Team, which I will continue with throughout the season, for enabling me to seize this chance to compete with Motozoo from now until the end of the Championship!”
On his team’s new rider and his accolades, Team Manager Fabio Utticelli said, “We are thrilled to welcome Mattia to our team. He is an exceptionally talented rider who has already demonstrated his skills on a global stage. We are confident that he will make a significant contribution, both in terms of results and the technical development of the motorcycle. With Mattia joining us, we aim to remain prominent in the sport and approach the future with ambition.”
